An easy to grow, very cold hardy ornamental grass, Deschampsia cespitosa ‘Pixie Fountain’ (Tufted Hair Grass) is one of the few ornamental grasses that grows well in moderate shade. It is a fit for sunny to shaded gardens and woodland settings. Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Its compact form is useful as a groundcover, as path edging, and in groupings. Perfect for small spaces and in containers, it provides eye-catching blooms well into winter. The lacy plumes are lovely in bouquets and may be dried for use in arrangements. Native to North America, Deschampsia cespitosa has a wide native range, found in moist areas and woodlands. It is evergreen in many areas. Introduced by Jelitto Seeds.
